Endorse David Mandel

The Bee should endorse David Mandel, not Doris Matsui

Talking points:

– Doris Matsui is ignoring the genocide in Gaza including the impending killing of tens of thousands of civilians in Rafah.

– David Mandel is calling for an immediate and permanent ceasefire and an end to U.S. complicity in Israel’s attacks on Gaza, military occupation, illegal settlements, attacks on West Bank Palestinians and apartheid laws.

– Doris Matsui takes tens of thousands of dollars from the medical industry including big pharma AND she opposes universal health care

– David Mandel takes no corporate donations and is calling for Medicare for all.

– Both Matsui and Mandel support women’s reproductive rights, but Mandel is also calling for the protection of women and children in Gaza and other war zones

– Doris Matsui has been in office for over 20 years and is an entrenched politician, a follower, not a leader.

– David Mandel is not a career politician and bring a badly needed emphasis on new directions including a human-rights based foreign policy and a domestic policy that is directed at meeting people’s needs.

The Bee is serious error in saying that Matsui should “ seriously consider who she will pass the baton to, come 2028”. It is the electorate, the people, who should decide their next representative, not embedded politicians.
